Children and Adolescents

Growing up is hard. Every age has its own set of challenges as overwhelming emotions ensue and new developmental challenges arise. Friendships, school, and parent relationships can either be a support or a detriment.

It can be difficult to know how to engage with it all as a child and especially as a parent. Children and adolescents need support in finding balance and facing challenges.

Counseling can serve as a guide for the child and parent in navigating challenges while providing a safe place to explore, grow, and learn how to interact with their feelings, create healthy boundaries, and boldly face uncertainties.

Transitions can be welcomed or feared. They can be exciting or overwhelming. Regardless of how we view change, it can be surprising how much anxiety, fear, dread, and even depression can occur when transition is at our doorstep.

Many of us may find we’re stuck in rumination and self doubt after a change has occurred. I’m here to help guide you out of the rut and into participating in your own beautiful life. Therapy can guide us out of feeling stuck and can be a powerful catalyst for personal growth and transformation.

 FAQs

  • My rate is $145 for a 45-50 minute session.

  • I have dual licensure in Texas and Maryland! I offer virtual and in person sessions for residents in the state of Texas and virtual appointments only for residents of Maryland.

*I only offer virtual sessions to individuals 12 years of age and older.

  • That’s easy! I was born and raised outside of Annapolis, Maryland, and am very connected with friends and family there. Even though I have lived in Texas for many years now, Maryland is still the place that I consider ‘home’. Because of this, I wanted to be able to be a counseling resource for the community.

  • Taking the first step to start the counseling process can be overwhelming and intimidating. You may feel nervous and that’s okay! My hope is to spend time getting to know you, exploring your goals, and finding a pace and rhythm that works for you as we process together.

  • I’m an out-of-network provider which means you can pay with a card and I can provide receipts (Superbills) of services to file with your insurer directly. I have found there are many benefits to private pay (even if you do have an insurance provider) in the counseling process such as:

    • Having more freedom in choosing a counselor that is a good fit for you (not just one that fits the "in-network" bill).

    • Receiving counseling services for needs that aren't necessarily considered "billable" to insurance (I.e. relationship struggles, work stressors, life transitions, child behavioral challenges, etc).

    • As your counselor, I will not be required to assign a mental health diagnosis for our time together which could then become a part of your medical record.

    • Our total number of sessions and session frequency will not be controlled by your insurance company but rather through our collaboration and reassessment as we work towards your goals.

You can also always contact your insurance provider directly and inquire.

  • You can access my calendar and availability conveniently in my client portal at any time. You can also reach out to me via email or text (682-334-3796).

  • You can cancel or reschedule a counseling appointment through my client portal as long as you provide 24 business hours notice. If an appointment is cancelled with less then 24 business hours notice or you fail to show up, it will be charged the full session fee.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

    • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

    • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

    • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

    • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
